About the Newsletter

The Centre for Poverty and Access to Justice (CPAJ), National Law University Odisha invites original and unpublished submissions for CPAJ Newsletter Volume IV. The newsletter seeks to provide a platform for students, researchers, academicians, legal practitioners and policy professionals to engage with contemporary issues concerning poverty, inequality, access to justice and socio-economic rights.

About CPAJ

The Centre for Poverty and Access to Justice (CPAJ) works towards improving access to justice for individuals and communities facing social, economic and institutional disadvantages. Its activities include legal research, legal awareness, policy advocacy, capacity building and initiatives aimed at strengthening access to legal remedies.

The themes are illustrative and non-exhaustive.

Categories of Submission

1. Articles

Word Limit: 900–1,000 words

Should present a well-researched and analytical discussion of a legal, policy or socio-economic issue.

2. Case Comments

Word Limit: 750–900 words

Critical analysis of recent judicial decisions concerning poverty, human rights, welfare legislation or access to justice.

3. Legislative or Policy Reviews

Word Limit: 800–900 words

Reviews of recent statutes, bills, government policies or reports affecting vulnerable communities.

4. Opinion/Commentary

Word Limit: 700–800 words

Short analytical pieces addressing contemporary issues, reforms or emerging developments.

The word limits are exclusive of footnotes.

The call is open to:

Law students

Researchers

Academicians

Legal practitioners

Policy professionals

Co-authorship of up to two authors is permitted.

Submission Guidelines

No abstract is required.

Manuscripts must be original and unpublished.

Co-authorship is permitted for a maximum of two authors.

Manuscripts should not contain identifying information.

Submissions must be in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) format.

Author details should be provided separately on a cover page.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of facts, citations and references.

Simultaneous submissions are discouraged.

Formatting Guidelines

Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt

Line Spacing: 1.5

Headings: Times New Roman, 14 pt, Bold

Sub-headings: Times New Roman, 13 pt, Bold/Italic

Footnotes: Times New Roman, 10 pt, single spacing

Margins: 1 inch on all sides

Paper Size: A4

Alignment: Justified

Page Numbers: Not required

Citation Style: OSCOLA 4th Edition

Plagiarism Policy

Submissions must be original. A similarity index exceeding 10%, excluding properly cited quotations and references, may result in desk rejection. Plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct will lead to rejection.

Publication & Editorial Process

The Editorial Board reserves the right to make minor editorial changes concerning grammar, formatting and style. It may also reject submissions that do not comply with the prescribed guidelines or fall outside the scope of the newsletter.
