Key Responsibilities
- Docket Management: Review, docket, and manage critical dates for U.S. and foreign patent prosecution correspondence using the Anaqua IP Management system.
- Global Prosecution & Operations: Coordinate international filings through PCT, national phase entry, direct Paris Convention filings, and EP validations. Maintain follow-ups and send precise filing instructions to outside associates.
- Compliance & Formality Review: Review key formality documentation including Assignments, Declarations, Powers of Attorney, and Statements of Use prior to filing with international patent offices.
- Annuity & Database Administration: Manage payment of annuities, and audit, create, and maintain accurate database records within Anaqua.
- Legal Research & Strategy: Research country-specific patent requirements using tools like Kluwer IP, ensure adherence to country formalities, and prepare complex IP management reports.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support Patent Department staff regarding legal rules and regulations, coordinate invention disclosure processing, and deliver presentations during patent staff meetings.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. An Associate/Baccalaureate degree or completion of an ABA-approved legal assistant/paralegal program is preferred.
- Experience: 5–9 years of dedicated IP docketing experience.
- Domain Expertise: 4+ years of intellectual property experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical sector is strongly preferred, alongside proven experience in U.S. and foreign patent prosecution.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with the Anaqua docketing system and research databases like Kluwer IP.
- Core Competencies: Superior oral and written communication skills, exceptional organizational capabilities, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently within cross-functional global teams.
