About the Role
As an Assistant Manager – Legal at Asian Paints, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the company's legal interests, driving commercial contract strategy, and ensuring regulatory compliance across diverse business operations. This position offers a broad scope of responsibility, ranging from complex commercial negotiation and contract lifecycle management to litigation support and legal metrology compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Management & Drafting: Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize high-value commercial contracts, agreements, and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
- Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify legal, commercial, and operational risks across business transactions and recommend robust mitigation strategies.
- Strategic Advisory: Provide day-to-day legal counsel to business verticals on contractual rights, liabilities, indemnities, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Regulatory Compliance & Governance: Ensure company transactions align with applicable statutory regulations and internal corporate policies.
- Legal Metrology Support: Oversee legal metrology compliance activities, including product labeling, packaging regulations, and regulatory audits.
- Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Manage and support legal disputes, litigation matters, claims, issuance of legal notices, and settlement documentation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a key legal partner to internal business teams, including Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing, and HR.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized university or institute.
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in corporate legal departments or reputable law firms.
- Location: Head Office, Vakola, Mumbai (On-site).
- Skills: Strong drafting and negotiation skills, sharp legal acumen, understanding of legal metrology laws, and excellent cross-functional stakeholder management.
