About the Role
This is a stellar opportunity for litigators with 2 to 5 years of post-qualification experience who possess strong legal acumen and a passion for complex tax disputes. You will step into an environment that offers comprehensive exposure to high-value matters spanning direct tax, commercial disputes, writ jurisdiction, and appellate proceedings across supreme judicial bodies and tribunals.
Key Responsibilities
- Pleadings & Drafting: Draft high-caliber writ petitions, Special Leave Petitions (SLPs), appellate briefs, applications, and written replies across diverse legal forums.
- In-Depth Research: Conduct sophisticated and nuanced legal research utilizing SCC Online, Taxmann, and allied commercial research databases.
- Court Appearances: Regularly appear before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), High Courts, and trial courts under senior supervision, handling tax prosecution and compounding matters, with substantial scope for independent advocacy as you grow.
- Strategic Advisory: Actively contribute to client strategy sessions, conferences, and briefings with senior counsel.
- Multi-Forum Exposure: Engage with ongoing disputes before the Supreme Court of India, Delhi High Court, ITAT, GST Appellate Tribunals, and other premier statutory authorities.
Candidate Profile & Eligibility
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of post-enrolment litigation experience (PQE).
- Bar Enrolment: Mandatory enrolment with a State Bar Council (enrolment with the Bar Council of Delhi is preferred).
- Domain Knowledge: Proven prior exposure to direct tax, commercial litigation, or constitutional writ practice is an advantage.
- Skill Set: Meticulous attention to detail, robust legal fundamentals, disciplined work ethic, and a demonstrated desire to specialize in tax advocacy.
