About the Role & Team
As part of the MSS legal team, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding HSBC’s interests while enabling high-value transactions. You will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and executing complex traded market documentation. Operating in a hybrid work environment, you will collaborate closely with global stakeholders, corporate banking teams, and counterparties to manage transactions smoothly from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Documentation & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate critical traded market agreements, including ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes (CSAs), Custody Agreements, GMRAs, GMSLAs, guarantees, and other industry-standard financial documents.
- Legal & Jurisdictional Analysis: Conduct robust legal research and review counterparty constitutional documents to ensure compliance with local and international jurisdictional requirements.
- Risk Mitigation: Ensure all negotiated legal documentation provides robust legal and credit protection for HSBC, aligning with internal risk policies.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with the Corporate & Investment Banking teams, credit risk officers, and other internal stakeholders to drive matters to a successful close.
- Matter Management: Take end-to-end ownership of assigned legal matters, ensuring timely execution and meticulous record-keeping.
Who We Are Looking For
- Education: A professional Law degree from a recognized Indian or overseas university.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) with a strong focus on drafting, vetting, and negotiating contracts and financial agreements.
- Domain Knowledge: A solid understanding of Global Markets businesses, financial products, and simple/complex deal structures.
- Legal Expertise: Familiarity with Common Law principles, with a specific emphasis on UK law, is highly advantageous.
- Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple high-priority matters in a fast-paced environment.
