About the Opportunity / Organizer
Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education (IDIA) began in 2010 as a student-run movement at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), founded by the visionary late Prof. (Dr.) Shamnad Basheer. IDIA seeks to empower underprivileged and marginalized students by unlocking access to premier legal education. Hosted in collaboration with the IDIA Chapter at the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi, this specialized LL.M. Mentorship Programme offers aspiring candidates high-impact, personalized mentorship to secure admission to top global law schools.
Mentorship Programme Scope & Key Offerings
- 1-on-1 Guidance: Complete end-to-end guidance across all stages of foreign LL.M. applications with three dedicated one-on-one mentoring sessions (30 minutes each).
- Document Evaluation & Review: Thorough review, assessment, and tailored feedback on your CV, Statement of Purpose (SOP), Letters of Recommendation (LOR), and university-specific essays.
- Elite Mentor Network: Direct pairing with alumni and current scholars from renowned global institutions, including New York University (NYU), University of Cambridge, Queen Mary University of London, National University of Singapore (NUS), Sciences Po, and MIDS Geneva.
- Pro Bono Initiative: Mentors volunteer on a pro bono basis to support IDIA's charitable mission.
Eligibility & Qualifications
- Open to law students, graduates, and legal professionals planning to apply for master's programs (LL.M.) at foreign universities.
- Applicants should have a clear vision or preference of target universities abroad.
Fee & Contribution
A minimum charitable contribution of ₹1,000 per university is required to support the activities of IDIA (contributions may vary based on multi-university applications).
