Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) is inviting applications for the post of Project Assistant in the Department of Earth Sciences. Established in 1959, IIT Kanpur is a premier public technical institute renowned globally for engineering, scientific innovation, interdisciplinary research, and academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities / Competition Scope
The selected Project Assistant will manage administrative, research support, and departmental documentation duties. Key responsibilities include:
- Handling inward, outward, and distribution of official documents and dak within institute departments and offices.
- Maintaining office files, archiving correspondence, and executing systematic filing of official paper records.
- Organizing and coordinating logistical arrangements for departmental seminars, meetings, and academic classes.
- Performing administrative and office-related duties as assigned by the project authority.
Eligibility & Qualifications
- Educational Qualification: Graduate degree in B.Sc., B.A., B.Com., BBA, BCA, or LL.B. from a recognized university.
- Desirable Experience: Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience in a Government Organization or Educational Institution.
- Demonstrated experience in document handling, dak management, and file maintenance.
- Proficiency in written and verbal English communication skills.
- Working knowledge of standard computer applications (MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint).
- Prior experience in organizing meetings, classes, and academic seminars.
- Flexibility and willingness to work extra hours or on weekends when operational needs arise.
Stipend, Perks & Awards
Pay Scale: ₹19,000 – ₹1,600 – ₹47,800 per month (consolidated/as per institutional project norms).
