About NITI Aayog
NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) serves as the apex public policy think tank of the Government of India. It is the nodal agency tasked with catalyzing economic development and fostering cooperative federalism through the involvement of State Governments in the economic policy-making process via a bottom-up approach.
About the Internship Scheme
Initiated in 2015, the NITI Aayog Internship Scheme seeks to engage students pursuing Under-Graduate (UG), Graduate, Post-Graduate (PG) degrees, or enrolled as Research Scholars in recognized universities and institutions within India or abroad. Interns are exposed to the functioning of government policy formulation, evaluation, and research.
Key Terms & Duration
- Tenure: Minimum 6 weeks up to a maximum period of 6 months.
- Frequency: A candidate can apply for the internship only once during a single financial year.
- Advance Application Window: Applications can be submitted up to 6 months in advance, but no later than 2 months prior to the desired month of joining.
Eligibility Criteria
Bonafide students of any recognized University/Institution within India or abroad fulfilling the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- Undergraduate Students: Must have completed or appeared in the term-end examinations of the 2nd year (4th semester) of their bachelor's degree course with not less than 85% or equivalent marks in the 12th standard.
- Graduate/PG Students: Must have completed or appeared in the term-end exams of the 1st year (2nd semester) of their post-graduate program, or pursuing research/Ph.D., having secured not less than 70% or equivalent marks in Graduation.
- Recent Graduates: Candidates who have appeared in their final examinations or recently completed Graduation/PG and are awaiting admission for higher studies, provided they secured 70% or more cumulative marks across all semesters/years till the date of application. (The interval between the declaration of final exam results and the desired start month must not exceed 6 months).
Essential Instructions
- Selected candidates must furnish original mark sheets and a formal No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their college/institution in the prescribed format (Annexure ‘C’) at the time of joining; failure to do so will result in immediate cancellation of candidature.
- Applicants must clearly indicate their preferred vertical/area of interest in the online portal.
