Law Fest 2026 – Press Stimulation Competition: “The Nation Wants to Know”

About the Event

The Nation Wants to Know is a Press Stimulation Competition organised as part of Law Fest 2026 at Saveetha School of Law, SIMATS, Chennai. The event focuses on political awareness, governance, journalism, contemporary issues, critical thinking, informed analysis and effective communication.

Competition Format

Participants will face hypothetical political emergencies and participate in a simulated press conference. Teams will represent the ruling government and respond to questions raised by members of the press.

Each participant will assume a specific political or administrative role, such as a Chief Minister, Minister, Secretary or other relevant government official, and will be expected to provide explanations, solutions and governmental perspectives.

Eligibility

The competition is open to students pursuing any higher education course from a recognised college or university in India.

Teams must consist of 2 members.

Both participants must belong to the same institution.

The competition is particularly relevant for students of Law, Political Science, Journalism and related disciplines.

Competition Procedure

The Organising Committee will provide a list of 20 hypothetical political emergencies.

Each team will receive an emergency through a draw of lots.

Priority in allotment will follow the order of registration.

Teams will act as spokespersons of the ruling government.

Participants must respond to questions posed during the simulated press conference.

Participation of both team members is mandatory.

Registration Fee

₹303 per team of two members.

The fee is non-refundable and includes refreshments and certificates for participants.

Participation Limit

A maximum of 30 teams can register and participate, subject to the Organising Committee's discretion to increase the number of participating teams. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
