Ramaiah Institute of Legal Studies (RILS), Bengaluru focuses on value-based and holistic legal education. The institute is affiliated with Karnataka State Law University, recognised by the Government of Karnataka and approved by the Bar Council of India.
RILS offers 5-year B.A. LL.B. and B.B.A. LL.B. programmes and aims to develop competent legal professionals through academic learning and practical legal education.
The Moot Court Committee of Ramaiah Institute of Legal Studies (RILS), Bengaluru is organising the 5th RILS Inter-University Moot Court Competition 2026 from 11 to 13 December 2026 at the RILS campus in Bengaluru.
The competition is designed to provide law students with an opportunity to develop and demonstrate their legal research, memorial drafting, advocacy and oral argument skills through a simulated courtroom setting.
The competition is open to bona fide students pursuing either:
A 5-year integrated LL.B. programme, or
A 3-year LL.B. programme
Participants must be enrolled in an institution recognised by the Bar Council of India.
Only one team may represent each institution.
The moot problem is set in the fictional Republic of Navira and concerns a Supreme Court case involving a patient's lifelong dependence on medical treatment.
The proposition juxtaposes the patient's situation with the State's claims concerning administrative discretion and fiscal prudence. It requires participants to engage with issues relating to:
Constitutional obligations
Public health policy
Administrative discretion
State responsibility
Judicial ethics
The registration fee is ₹3,500 per team.
Accommodation is not included in the registration fee. Teams requiring accommodation can avail it at an additional cost of ₹3,500 for the period from 11 to 13 December 2026.
The competition offers a total cash prize pool of ₹72,000, along with trophies.

Interested teams must complete the prescribed registration form on or before 23 October 2026 at 11:59 PM IST.
Participants must:
Submit one registration form per team.
Upload the required registration form/approval letter/bonafide letter as specified in the rulebook.
Pay the applicable registration fee.
Upload a screenshot of the payment confirmation with the registration form.
Complete the registration form and payment process before the deadline.
The competition is limited to a maximum of 24 teams, which will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis based on completion of registration and fee payment. The organisers will acknowledge receipt of the registration form by email within 48 hours.
