MAIMS 7th National Moot Court Competition, 2026

The Department of Law, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies (MAIMS), NAAC Accredited with Grade A++, is proud to announce the 7th National Moot Court Competition, 2026. This prestigious competition is scheduled to take place across two phases on 30th - 31st October & 20th - 21st November, 2026.

The moot proposition for this edition has been meticulously curated by Dr. Anant Vijay Maria, Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court of India. It presents a highly contemporary and complex legal battleground involving child protection, intermediary liability, digital evidence, privacy, and constitutional interpretation.

About the Moot Proposition: Odysseus v. State of Arya

The case revolves around a voluntary relationship between two adolescents with an age gap of less than one year, leading to criminal charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the Information Technology Act, 2000. It raises critical legal questions regarding:

• Criminal Liability & Evidence: Proof of online grooming, kidnapping, and the authenticity of AI-generated/manipulated digital evidence.
• Constitutional Law: Whether criminalizing voluntary adolescent relationships violates Articles 14 and 21, and the need for a "close-in-age" exception.
• Intermediary Liability: The statutory and common law liability of online platforms (CampusVerse) under the IT Rules, 2021, and the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023.
• Professional Ethics vs. Mandatory Reporting: Harmonizing the mandatory reporting obligations under Sections 19 & 21 of the POCSO Act with therapeutic confidentiality under the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017.

Eligibility & Team Composition

• The competition is open to all students pursuing regular 3-year or 5-year LL.B. programs from any recognized university/college in India.
• Each team shall typically comprise three members (two speakers and one researcher) or two members (both speakers).

• Phase 1: 30th - 31st October, 2026
• Phase 2: 20th - 21st November, 2026
