About the Opportunity / Organizer

The Moot Court Society (MCS) at Xavier Law School (XLS), St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK) presents the Xavier Moot Court Competition, 2026 (XMCC’26). Established under the Jesuit vision to foster academic excellence, ethics, and rigorous scholarship, Xavier Law School has crafted XMCC’26 as a premier national platform designed to challenge aspiring legal minds in a simulated courtroom environment.

Competition Scope & Proposition

The moot proposition is centered around Foreign Investment Law. XMCC’26 aims to create a dynamic forum where preparation meets persuasion, bringing together diverse analytical approaches to complex international and commercial legal disputes.

Team Composition & Eligibility

• Participation is open to students currently pursuing undergraduate law degrees (3-Year or 5-Year LL.B. programmes).
• Each team must comprise three members: two Speakers and one Researcher.
• A maximum of two teams from any single institution may participate.

Cash Prizes, Internships & Awards

XMCC’26 features a distinguished total prize pool of ₹2,10,000 (₹2.1 Lakhs) along with coveted internship opportunities:

• Best Team: ₹70,000, Champion’s Trophy, and Gold Medals
• Runner-up Team: ₹35,000, Runner-up Trophy, and Silver Medals
• Second Runner-up Team: ₹20,000, Trophy, and Medals
• Best Memorial: ₹20,000, Trophy, and Medals
• Best Speaker: ₹25,000, Trophy, and Medals
• Second Best Speaker: ₹15,000, Trophy, and Medals
• Best Researcher: ₹15,000, Trophy, and Medals
• Best Speaker of the Final Round: ₹10,000, Trophy, and Medals
• Exclusive Internship Opportunities: Top participants will be considered for internship placements with leading partner law firms including Khaitan & Co., Sharma & Sharma Advocates & Legal Consultants LLP, MCO Legals (Meharia & Company), Sinha & Co., S. Jalan & Co., IndiaLaw LLP, and others.

• Registration Deadline: October 20, 2026
• Last Date for Clarifications: October 21, 2026
• Release of Clarifications: October 23, 2026
• Memorial Soft-Copy Submission: October 26, 2026
• Oral Rounds & Researchers' Test: October 29–31, 2026
• Accommodation: Available at ₹700 per person per day.
