About the Competition

The TIPS Moot Court Society is organising the 3rd Shri O.P. Tandon Memorial Mock Trial Competition, 2026 to provide law students with a realistic courtroom experience and practical litigation exposure.

The competition focuses on developing:

  • Examination-in-Chief

  • Cross-Examination

  • Courtroom Advocacy

  • Legal Reasoning & Analysis

  • Teamwork & Litigation Strategy

  • Professional Ethics

  • Courtroom Etiquette

The event seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical legal education and actual courtroom practice while preparing participants for litigation careers.

Competition Dates: 21–22 August 2026 and 5 September 2026

Mode: Hybrid

Theme

The competition problem shall revolve around:

  • Criminal Law

  • Criminal Procedure

  • Law of Evidence

The competition consists of four successive rounds, with teams progressing based on performance.

Eligibility

The competition is open to students pursuing:

  • 3-Year LL.B.

  • 5-Year Integrated Law Programme

from any recognised University or Institution.

Team Composition

Each team may consist of a maximum of 5 members:

  • 2 Speakers/Counsels

  • 1 Researcher

  • 2 Witnesses

Minimum team size: 4 Members

Where a team consists of four members, the Researcher may additionally perform the role of one Witness.

No additional members shall be permitted.

  • Researcher's Test

  • Preliminary Rounds

  • Quarter-Final Round

Offline Phase

  • Semi-Final Round

  • Final Round

  • Valedictory Ceremony

Registration Procedure

Teams must:

  1. Complete the official registration form.

  2. Nominate one Primary Contact Person while registering.

  3. Complete payment of the registration fee.

  4. Registration is confirmed only after successful submission of the registration form and payment.

  5. All official communication regarding the competition will be sent to the nominated contact person.
