National Law Institute University (NLIU)

Established in 1997, the National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal is one of India's premier National Law Universities. Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Bar Council of India (BCI), the University was established to advance modern legal education through multidisciplinary teaching, practical training, and professional skill development.

About the Competition

The Moot Court Association (MCA), NLIU presents the 8th NLIU–Singhania & Partners National Client Counselling Competition, 2026, scheduled to be held from 21–23 August 2026 in physical mode.

Recognised as one of the most prestigious client counselling competitions in India, the competition attracts participation from leading law schools across the country and aims to provide students with practical exposure to lawyer-client interactions.

Through simulated client counselling sessions, participants will develop essential professional skills, including:

  • Client interviewing

  • Legal problem identification

  • Practical legal advice

  • Professional communication

  • Ethical decision-making

  • Client relationship management

The organisers aim to provide participants with practical learning opportunities under the guidance of experienced legal practitioners.

Competition Format

  • The competition will be conducted entirely in physical mode.

  • Participation is limited to 20 teams.

  • Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Each participating team shall consist of two counsels.

  • A maximum of two teams per institution may participate, subject to:

    • Availability of slots.

    • Prior approval from the organisers via email.

Eligibility

Eligible law institutions are invited to participate through their designated Moot Court Association.

Team Composition

  • Two Participants per Team

  • Both participants shall perform the role of Counsels.

Registration Procedure

Institutions must:

  1. Complete the official Google Registration Form through their designated Moot Court Association.

  2. Register provisionally before the prescribed deadline.

  3. Complete final registration by the final registration deadline.

  4. Institutions wishing to send a second team must:

    • Obtain prior approval from the organisers via email.

    • Registration is subject to availability of slots.

Registration Fee

  • ₹10,000 per team (Two-Member Team)

Important Dates

Last Date for Provisional Registration - 15 July 2026

Last Date for Final Registration - 5 August 2026

Physical Oral Rounds - 21–23 August 2026
